The 2025 Masters Tournament delivered a thrilling finale that drove an 18% surge in final-round betting activity across the Kambi Network

The 2025 Masters Tournament delivered one of the most thrilling finishes in recent memory. As the Sunday drama unfolded at Augusta National, that excitement translated into a significant surge in betting activity on the Kambi Network, which saw an 18% increase in bets placed on the final round compared to 2024.

Bettors around the globe were on the edge of their seats until the very end, as Rory McIlroy won his first major tournament since 2014, edging out Justin Rose in a playoff to become just the sixth player in history to complete the career Grand Slam of golf.

Michael Verity, Golf Lead at Kambi, said: “The Masters Tournament was an absolute classic. The ups and downs felt by all who witnessed Sunday’s final round will live long in the memory – Rory seeming to win and lose the event around five times over before finally prevailing against his good friend Justin Rose in a dramatic sudden death playoff on the 18th green in front of the patrons.”

The final-day surge also capped off a strong tournament overall, with a 14% increase in total bets across all four days.

Rory leads global betting, but US backs Bryson

Heading into Sunday’s final round, Rory McIlroy emerged as the most backed player across Kambi’s global network as he pursued the elusive Grand Slam, garnering the most bets from the conclusion of Saturday’s third round to the start of the final round on Sunday.

However, US bettors showed their patriotic support by favouring Bryson DeChambeau heading into the final round.

Golf cracks top 10 for bettors

The surge in interest helped propel the Masters as the fifth most bet-on event in the US this year, with golf ranked as the seventh most bet-on sport overall. Golf is also the tenth most bet on sport across the entire Kambi Network.

That rise in engagement was supported by Kambi’s most expansive Masters offering to date, designed to meet the growing demand and depth of interest from bettors around the world.

Verity added: “It was the biggest offer that Kambi have ever put together for the Masters, in terms of bet offer numbers but also the breadth and diversity of the offering covering all bases including 120+ weekly specials, alternative outrights such as Winner without Scheffler/McIlroy, Best Round of the Tournament and all the usual staples of our offering.”

With one of the most exciting finishes in Masters history and strong global engagement, the 2025 Masters Tournament served as a powerful reminder of golf’s importance in the sports betting industry  and the need for leading operators to have a robust offering that is more than just par for the course.
